Fish & Kids wins an environmental award
30th November 2006
In a glitzy green ceremony at London's Guildhall, the MSC's Fish & Kids project won a prestigious Green Award for creativity in sustainablility. Beating tough competition in the Best Business To Business Direct Mail category, the MSC's entry was commended by the judges for the way it "perfectly targeted its audience, giving them the facts and figures they needed to decide how best to implement their buying strategy with regard to sustainable fish".
The award was given for the letter and pack sent from project manager Laura Stewart to Local Education Authority caterers inviting them to take part in the Fish & Kids project and improve the sustainability of school meals.

Six eco-labels appear on school menus in Tower Hamlets
13th November 2006
The London Borough of Tower Hamlets has announced its participation in the Fish & Kids project. The 78 primary schools supplied by the council now offer MSC-labelled seafood regularly. The menu is on a three week rotation with six fish dishes carrying the MSC eco-label including salmon fish fingers, fisherman's pie and steamed fillet of fish.
Ben Jonson Primary School hosted a launch where children enjoyed a sustainable fish lunch of salmon fish fingers. Excitingly, the 8 foot tall Fish & Kids project mascot, Murdock the Fisherman's Cat, visited the school to hand out stickers to the children. The whole school contributed to the launch by painting MSC fish for the canteen wall and taking part in assemblies and class discussions all about sustainable fishing.
