Fish & Kids is a new and exciting way to teach children about fishing, sustainability and the marine environment. Children also learn about healthy eating, food labelling, shopping and consumer choice, and how to prepare simple, nutritious recipes using sustainable seafood.

Our curriculum-linked teaching resources can be used to support the Licence to Cook strategy and the National Healthy Schools and Eco-Schools Programmes. Fish & Kids is also a fun and educational way to involve children in the development of a whole school healthy food policy.

Visit the resource centre to download free lesson plans, activity sheets, discussion cards and interactive slide shows.

Classroom resources

The Marine Stewardship Council has produced KS1 and KS2 teaching resources across the following subject areas: Science, Geography, English, Citizenship and D&T. We are also developing secondary resources for use at KS3.

The Fish & Kids classroom pack is aimed at primary schools. It contains curriculum-linked lesson plans, activity sheets and detailed teacher’s notes. You can download the education pack from the website, or request a free printed copy.

To help stimulate classroom discussion we have developed two interactive slide shows to use online or with the whiteboard, and the updated photo gallery contains a selection of images to support your classwork.

If you’re looking for games and quizzes then take a look at the Playroom section of the website where children can learn and explore at their own pace in a fun and friendly environment.
